“Integrated bio-behavior alresearch among transgenders”

The purpose of the study was to assess the prevalence of HIV, hepatitis B and C, STIs among transgender people in Ukraine, and to identify the main behavior alfactors that may beassociated with the presenceofinfection.

Objectivesofthestudy:

• Estimate the prevalence of HIV among transgender people in Ukraine.
• Estimate the prevalence of viral hepatitis B and C among transgender people in Ukraine.
• Estimate the prevalence of STIs among transgender people in Ukraine.
• Assess the level of viral suppression for HIV + transgender people in Ukraine.
• Identify the main behavioral factors that may be related to the presence of HIV, hepatitis B and C virus and STIs among transgender people.
• Assess the level of transgender coverage with prevention programs.

Methods of research: epidemiological, quantitative, statistical.

Methodology of the research: inordertoform a sample, the RDS methodology will be applied.

Geography of the study: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Dnipro, Chernivci, Herson, Lviv.  

Study sample: 1000 respondents (900 transgender women, 100 transgendermen).
